Barcelona is a Gaudí open-air museum where the headline sights charge real money but the streets, beaches, and the Gothic Quarter are yours for free. Every big ticket now needs an online timed slot ~ book before you fly.

Bring $85–110

This covers Sagrada Família with towers, Park Güell, and Casa Batlló ~ the Ramblas, beach, and Gothic Quarter cost nothing.

Getting there

BCN

Barcelona-El Prat Airport

Base in the Eixample or Gothic Quarter. The Aerobús and R2 train link El Prat to the centre; from there it's all metro and walking.

Sagrada Família

€26 basic · €40 with tower access

≈ $28–43 USD

1.5–2 hoursGoogle Maps

Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece, due for completion in 2026. Book a timed morning slot online ~ never at the door ~ and pay extra for a tower for the stained-glass light show inside.

Park Güell

€18 (Monumental Zone)

≈ $20 USD

1.5–2 hoursGoogle Maps

Prices jumped 80% in 2026, so only the mosaic Monumental Zone is ticketed ~ the surrounding park and viewpoints are still free. Go at opening for the empty serpent-bench shot.

Casa Batlló

€35–45 (time-dependent)

≈ $38–49 USD

1–1.5 hoursGoogle Maps

The dragon-scale 'house of bones' on Passeig de Gràcia. The AR tablet tour is genuinely magical ~ the cheaper standard ticket is fine, and the facade outside is free to admire.

La Rambla & La Boqueria

Free (bring cash to snack)

1–2 hoursGoogle Maps

Walk the famous boulevard early, then dive into La Boqueria market for fruit cups and jamón. Keep a hand on your bag ~ this is prime pickpocket territory.

Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic)

Free (Cathedral donation €9)

2–3 hoursGoogle Maps

Get deliberately lost in the medieval alleys ~ Plaça Reial, the Roman walls, and hidden plazas. The Barcelona Cathedral rooftop is a small paid extra worth taking.

Montjuïc & Magic Fountain

Free show · cable car €14–17

Half dayGoogle Maps

The Magic Fountain light-and-music show (Thu–Sat evenings) is free ~ check the seasonal schedule. Ride the cable car up for the castle and the best city-and-sea panorama.
